The Dublin pop-up store celebrating 60 years of SPAR Ireland

As part of its year-long 60th anniversary celebrations, SPAR Ireland opened a pop-up store at Johnson Place in Dublin city centre in June, with a retro 1960s feel.

SPAR Ireland opened a unique pop-up store as part of their 60-year anniversary. The store is located at Johnson Place, just off Grafton Street in Dublin city centre. SPAR collaborated with Thomas Ennis Group to develop the store, which opened on 8 June. The store was built in an impressive two weeks.

Throwback feeling

The store has distinct 1960s décor and pop art, celebrating the original roots of SPAR in Ireland. The front of the store features a replica of the original 1963 SPAR sign over the door. Collages from key cultural moments from Dublin during this period are on the walls of the entrance, as well as a decorative collection of vinyls, with the option to scan a QR to listen to the ultimate 60s playlist.

Innovative offering

Not only will you feel nostalgic, but the store includes all the essential goods for shoppers, alongside some exciting innovations. The store is home to shoppers’ favourite products, including SPAR Own Brand products, baked goods and healthy ready meals. The ‘Food Craft’ range of gourmet sandwiches, snack pots, and wraps are also available.

In addition to the grocery offering, there is a tea station courtesy of Local Tea Company. The store also hosts an Insomnia Coffee station with two coffee machines with regular milk, and a coffee machine with oat milk as well.

Sustainability in mind

The store is eco-conscious, with the the fridges, tills, and service areas coming from other SPAR stores, having been used there. Shoppers can also make use of the plastic bottle recycling facility so customers can pop in and dispose responsibly.
